Commonwealth Bank “The Vault” in the Yarra Valley

in Corporate Events, Melbourne/by KatieB

The Commonwealth bank team had plenty of challenges whilst completing the “The Vault” team building activity in the Yarra Vally. The group united as one to take on the tasks to earn the clues to the vaults code. Teamwork, communication and trust was certainly the key to being successful. This team building activity is a great way to challenge smaller groups of 30 or under.

Let us know team how much you enjoyed the event and its challenges!

M-Power Solutions Scavenger Hunt Challenge

in Corporate Events, Team Building Perth/by Ella

Six teams from M-Power Solutions battled it out in our scavenger hunt challenge in Mandurah on Saturday. After a week of heavy rain we got lucky with the weather with only a light shower throughout the event. All teams were really competitive throughout the event (this was evident during the marking – a few dodgy photos & items) however a couple of teams made a couple of costly mistakes that proved the difference as they missed out on some big points and only 40 points seperated 1st and 2nd.

  1. Black Team – 4050
  2. Purple Team – 4010
  3. Orange Team – 3910
  4. Blue Team – 3880
  5. White Team – 3670
  6. Yellow Team – 3280

Are Charity Team Building Programs Worth It?

in Team Building Activities/by Ella

Corporate Responsibility is an ever growing area of focus for companies and businesses and often they look for different ways to give back to the community. In a growing trend companies are using team building days to combine the two.

One of the most popular charity team building activities currently available is the bike build program. This activity involves delegates building bikes and giving them away to disadvantaged kids. It not only is alot of fun but also sends a powerful message to all who participate. Imagine seeing the smiles on the kids faces as they walk into the room to collect their bike…priceless.

I came across this article that sums it up best in terms of what delegates get out of these types of events.

Promoting ownership and engagement

For corporations, the immediate gain is represented by employees who are more connected and devoted to the company.

If delegates can feel like they belong and that their work matters and makes a difference then this can have a positive effect within the culture of an organisation. It can lead to better working relationships and improved productivity because all of a sudden you have a better buy in from everyone.

So when people ask me are charity team building activities worth it…I have no hesitations in saying…YES, It has the potential to act as the catalyst to effect change within an organisation so that everyone can head in the one direction.

Team Building – A great way to facilitate coming together and working as one towards a common goal.

in Team Building/by Ella

In any business or organisation there are different departments, different roles, different personalities and sometimes its quite a challenge for all departments or staff to see the bigger picture in terms of how they fit in and the important part they play in the direction of the company. This is where it is crucial that team leaders are in place to help facilitate the messages to have everyone pull in the one direction. Here is a post I found that highlights the importance of leadership and how team building can assist.

Assign a Team Leader and Ensure They are Working Towards a Common Goal. The team leader and members of the team must know how to work together as one unit towards clear set goals. This is where team building comes in.

A great way to do this is to have them attend a team-building event, whereby they will be given the chance to get to know one another and learn to work with one another. There is no reason, however, why you cannot do this yourself. Why not set aside an afternoon to introduce everybody in the team to one another? You can have them all meet in the office or outside the office and enjoy some time chatting with one another, maybe playing a few teambuilding games or even just relaxing in the presence of you and the rest of the team….More at 2K Manhattan Offers Important Team Building Advice | 2K Manhattan

With so much diversity within a team, I don't always subscribe to the notion that there should be one leader (Yes an overall team leader is important but i'm referring to you as an individual). We are all leaders in our own right and doing your part for the team and doing it to the best of your ability is leading by example. When team members see you striving and doing the absolute best, that can have a motivating and inspiring effect on others which can result in them wanting to push and strive more. Only when we know what the common goal is can we strive to be our best and this is where the team leader has an important role in getting everyone on board and as mentioned above team building activities are a fantastic way to build morale and to facilitate the core message of the common goal.
